Vitargo began in 1990 in northern Sweden, born out of a simple frustration: the carbohydrate drinks available to athletes at the time caused bloating, energy crashes, and slow recovery. The answer was a new kind of carbohydrate molecule — a patented, high-molecular-weight starch engineered to clear the stomach fast and reach working muscles before fatigue set in.

The first independent research came from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, one of the world's leading centres for human physiology.
